The power of words can influence you to feel empathetic, uplifted or ready to shimmy your shoulders.
Music motivates, inspires, & delivers a clear message if you are open to receive it. It can trigger a range of emotions within certain individuals whether negative or positive. I want to focus on the positive.
Music with combined phrases of words, can give you an instant boost of energy. The most mundane activity such as mopping the floor, prepping for dinner, driving to that appointment, standing in that long line, can transfer. Simply with just a dose of music, can make an activity more pleasant than without.
Now I’m not saying doing these tasks in silence is a a problem. Sometimes we need those moments on the way home to decompress or just sit in silence to meditate & recharge our social batteries. But Music can be a mental stimulation boost for any mood set you are feeling at the time.
Music sends signals to the brain & has internally effects of a memory. Our brain unlocks core memories stored away & creates meaningful patterns of what sounds & most importantly lyrics attached that makes us feel good. We can feel good about the task that we’re engaged in & feel good within our body that can have us patting our feet, clapping our hands, shaking our head & swaying our hips.
During the work week, I want silence & my thoughts as I’m crawling out of bed & getting ready for the day. I may play a podcast as I’m driving or give someone a phone call.
Weekend mornings, I am blasting the group Redbone’s “come & get your love”. I am taking my time putting on my favorite lotion, I am posing in the mirror, I am setting the tone for the day by simply choosing to say I’m ready to conquer the day with the sound of music.
I encourage you to do the same.
