Rachel Sahtout, LCSW
Rachel Sahtout is passionate about learning and personal growth. She pursued her professional education with enthusiasm and dedication, graduating with honors with a Bachelor of Arts in Social Work from the University of Alaska and a Master of Social Work from Loyola University Chicago. She believes her educational background laid a solid foundation for her career in clinical social work and shaped her personally as well as professionally
Rachel believes that learning is a lifelong process. To that end, she regularly participates in advanced training and continuing education in order to stay up-to-date with current research and evidenced based practice techniques and incorporates this in to her work. Rachel is a member of the National Association of Social Workers.
Rachel has had the pleasure of working with diverse populations in a variety of therapeutic settings, including hospitals, schools, residential treatment centers and outpatient clinics. She believes that the varied nature of her experiences have given her a level of flexibility and a broad perspective that helps her in providing quality care. In addition to direct care, Rachel has provided clinical supervision to Social Work and Counseling Interns as well as Masters level clinicians working toward advanced licensure.
Rachel is dedicated to taking a person centered and strength based approach to therapy. She believes that treatment should be individualized, and that you have to meet people where they are at each point in their lives. She works with people across the life span both individually or as a couple. Rachel treats a wide array of clinical concerns, including mood and anxiety disorders, family and life transitions, relationship and work problems. She takes a collaborative approach to therapy, establishing a safe, caring environment to foster trust and engender a willingness to both share and be receptive to challenges when needed to heal and grow. Rachel utilizes integrated therapy techniques, including cognitive-behavioral strategies, mindfulness & acceptance based techniques, and solution-focused therapy. Rachel believes the goal of therapy is to support people in adapting or changing their behaviors to develop a life they find meaningful and satisfying.
