Jalyn A. Smith is a Licensed Social Worker dedicated to empowering individuals, families, and communities through compassionate, collaborative, and strengths-based care. She believes that every client possesses unique strengths and resilience, and she works alongside each individual to foster meaningful growth, build healthy relationships, and achieve personal goals in a supportive, nonjudgmental environment.
Jalyn brings experience across healthcare, crisis intervention, education, and outpatient mental health, allowing her to provide holistic, individualized care to clients from diverse backgrounds. She is passionate about creating a safe therapeutic space where clients feel heard, valued, and empowered while working to reduce the stigma surrounding mental health.
Her therapeutic approach is rooted in collaboration and emphasizes helping clients identify and understand their emotions, increase self-awareness, and develop healthy coping strategies that promote long-term emotional well-being. Jalyn utilizes evidence-based interventions including Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), mindfulness-based practices, solution-focused therapy, and strengths-based techniques to support clients in navigating life’s challenges.
Jalyn works with individuals experiencing a variety of concerns, including anxiety, depression, stress management, grief and loss, complex trauma, self-esteem challenges, life transitions, emotional regulation, and adjustment difficulties. She is committed to meeting each client where they are and tailoring treatment to their unique needs, goals, and experiences.
In addition to her work in private practice, Jalyn serves as a School Social Worker, where she advocates for students’ social, emotional, and academic success. Her experience includes providing individual counseling to Pre-K through high school-aged students, supporting emotional regulation and social skill development across home and school settings, conducting social developmental studies, participating in multidisciplinary IEP meetings, collaborating closely with families, educators, and support staff, and assisting in the development of Functional Behavioral Assessments (FBAs) and Behavioral Intervention Plans (BIPs) to promote positive student outcomes.
Jalyn earned her Associate of Science degree in Pre-Nursing from Prairie State College, her Bachelor of Social Work from Purdue University Northwest, and her Master of Social Work from Loyola University Chicago. She is committed to lifelong learning and continually expanding her knowledge to provide high-quality, evidence-based care.
Outside of her professional roles, Jalyn enjoys reading, learning new things, and spending quality time with family and friends. She believes that personal growth is a lifelong journey and considers it a privilege to walk alongside clients as they discover their strengths, overcome challenges, and create meaningful, fulfilling lives.
